The first Rita Ackermann monograph published in Japan, offering an overview of her work from the 1990s. Since the mid-1990s, Ackermann has expanded her painting practice alongside a strong social commentary, working across a wide range of media - from stained glass to red ballpoint pen applied directly to runway models’ faces in place of makeup. Her practice also includes multifaceted shadow-puppet theaters such as The Deer Slayer (1997), performances as a member of the art collective Angelblood, collaborations with Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, and curatorial projects including The Perfect Man (2007) and The Kate Moss Show (2006).
